Basketball Recap: Isaiah Martinez's Big Game Can't Quite Lead San Pasqual Valley over Mountainside

San Pasqual Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 40-38 heartbreaker at the hands of the Mountainside Wolves. The Warriors were not able to make up for their defeat to the Wolves from their previous meeting back in November of 2023.

San Pasqual Valley's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Isaiah Martinez, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine boards. Martinez is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down nine or more in the last 17 games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Santiago Lopez, who posted 12 points and seven rebounds.

San Pasqual Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Mountainside, their victory ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-5.

San Pasqual Valley didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 55-37 loss against Bagdad on the 13th. As for Mountainside, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 56-46 defeat against NFL Yet Academy on the 13th.
