Briggs came tearing into Wednesday's contest with ten straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.9 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the South Bulldogs with a sharp 13-3 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 20-13 on April 15th.

Wyatt Martin made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Martin wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Cameron Griffith, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Marcus Rodgers was another, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Briggs always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .621. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South only posted an OBP of .462.

Briggs' victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for South, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.

Coming up, Briggs will head out to take on Eastmoor Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Bruins 4, the Warriors 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for South, they will square off against Madison Christian at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
