Recap: Benicia Panthers vs. Vanden Vikings
The Benicia Panthers have been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 59-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Vanden on Saturday. Benicia has struggled against Vanden recently, as their match on Saturday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jackdan Eyike, who scored 17 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Eyike has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Earl, who scored nine points along with four steals.
Benicia dropped their record down to 17-9 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Vanden, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 17-8.
Benicia will be playing in front of their home fans against Northgate at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Averaging 62.62 points so far this season, Northgate's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so Benicia better be ready for a challenge. As for Vanden, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Wood at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Vanden's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last nine contests.
