Baseball Recap: Chaparral Comes Up Short

The matchup between Chaparral and Conway Springs on Thursday hardly resembled the 3-1 effort from their previous meeting. The Roadrunners came up short against the Cardinals, falling 17-8. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Roadrunners of the 3-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Chaparral got a massive performance out of Ty Hadsall, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Hadsall is becoming a predictor of the Roadrunners' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-1 (and 2-7-1 when he doesn't). Carter Hostetler was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs.

Chaparral now has a losing record of 7-8-1. As for Conway Springs, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-11.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Chaparral beat the Cardinals by a score of 5-0 later that day.
