Softball Recap: Lancaster Takes a Loss

Lancaster extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 9-14 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the York Cougars. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Bruins have suffered since April 2nd.

Lancaster saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cameryn Cauthen, who went 2-for-4 with one run.

As for York, the win was the 13th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 18-3. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 9.8 runs.

On York's side, Layla Clayton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on ten hits and racked up ten Ks. Clayton has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances.

Coming up, Lancaster will square off against Airport at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bruins will need to watch out since the Eagles have now posted at least ten runs in their last three games. York does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
