First Flight came up short against Currituck County on Tuesday, falling 16-4. The Nighthawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
For Currituck County's part, Dom Doran was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits. Doran was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one triple. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

Currituck County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 9.6.
Currituck County's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-8. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for First Flight, their loss dropped their record down to 13-8.
Both First Flight and Currituck County just can't seem to miss. The Nighthawks have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.8 hits per game. However, it's not like Currituck County struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.5 hits.
