Softball Recap: Union Comes Up Short

Union was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 8-2 to the East Marshall Mustangs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Knights of the 16-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in July of 2025.

Union's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for East Marshall, they pushed their record up to 5-0 with the win, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Union will face off against Dunkerton at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Raiders have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.2 runs per game on average), something the Knights will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for East Marshall, they will head out on the road to square off against Wapsie Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Mustangs 1.2, the Warriors 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
