Baseball Recap: DePaul College Prep Rams vs. Chicago Mt. Carmel Caravan
DePaul College Prep extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 20-7 in the process. They fell 5-0 to the Chicago Mt. Carmel Caravan. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Caravan this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 on Monday.
DePaul College Prep saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joey Sacchetti, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases.
As for Chicago Mt. Carmel, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average over those games.
On Chicago Mt. Carmel's side, not much got past Jake Matise, who gave up just four hits and racked up seven Ks to keep DePaul College Prep off the board. Matise has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Tj McQuillan was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Haiden Lajcin was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run.
