Cole Wilson * was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. Meanwhile, Copiague hadn't done well against Half Hollow Hills East recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Eagles came out on top in a nail-biter against the RedHawks, sneaking past 3-1. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Eagles as it put an end to their six-game losing streak.
Like Hampton Bays, Copiague also got a great game from a two-way player: Aidan Roman. He didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. Roman also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Copiague is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-8 otherwise. Roman was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one run and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Adrian Cruz, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run and one double.
Copiague's record now sits at 5-9. As for Hampton Bays, the win got them back to even at 4-4.
Hampton Bays might still be hurting after the 12-6 defeat they got from Copiague in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Baymen avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
