Baseball Recap: Sunnyside Blue Devils vs. Marana Tigers

It was a good run, but Sunnyside unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Marana Tigers by a score of 3-2. Sunnyside was red-hot at the plate headed into the contest (they scored no less than ten runs in the five matches prior) but Marana's pitcher proved too tough.

Jose Grijalva spent all 7.2 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits.

At the plate, Jorge Ruiz made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and an RBI. Jordan Mayboca was another key contributor, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with a stolen base.

On Marana's side, Jude Luckow was excellent, going 1-for-4 with two runs, a triple, and an RBI.

Marana will take on Rincon/University at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.
