Preview: Duncanville Panthers and Pantherettes vs. Lake Ridge Eagles
Duncanville is 7-0 against Lake Ridge since January of 2021, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Duncanville Panthers and Pantherettes will look to defend their home court against the Lake Ridge Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Duncanville will be looking to keep their nine-game home win streak alive.
Duncanville put the finishing touches on their 17th blowout victory of the season on Friday. They blew past Mansfield Legacy, posting a 79-35 win at home. Given Duncanville's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked first, while Mansfield Legacy is ranked 262nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Duncanville's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Makenzie White, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points White has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Laila Coleman, who scored 16 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Lake Ridge pushed their score all the way to 59 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They lost to Cedar Hill on the road by a decisive 74-59 margin.
Duncanville is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 23-4 record this season. As for Lake Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 16-12.
Everything came up roses for Duncanville against Lake Ridge in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 74-42 victory. Will Duncanville repeat their success, or does Lake Ridge have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
