Preview: Archbishop Bergan Knights vs. Lincoln Lutheran Warriors
The Archbishop Bergan Knights will head out on the road to take on the Lincoln Lutheran Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Archbishop Bergan will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Archbishop Bergan ultimately got the result they hoped for last Saturday. They came out on top against Arlington by a score of 43-35.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Archbishop Bergan to victory, but perhaps none more so than Claire Mlnarik, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Paige Frickenstein, who scored seven points along with ten rebounds and three blocks.
Lincoln Lutheran suffered their biggest loss since December 8, 2023 on Thursday. Their tough 47-25 defeat to Ashland-Greenwood might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Lincoln Lutheran can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 202nd, while Ashland-Greenwood is ranked 79th).
Ava Stroud was Lincoln Lutheran's leading scorer, having posted seven points.
Archbishop Bergan's victory bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Lincoln Lutheran, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-12.
Archbishop Bergan couldn't quite finish off Lincoln Lutheran when the teams last played back in January of 2023 and fell 42-39. Can Archbishop Bergan avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
