Basketball Game Preview: Fort Calhoun Pioneers vs. Raymond Central Mustangs

Having just played yesterday, the Fort Calhoun Pioneers will head out on the road to face off against the Raymond Central Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Fort Calhoun is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Tekamah-Herman 64-23 on Thursday. The Pioneers have beaten the Tigers the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Tigers has come to flipping the script.

Meanwhile, Raymond Central had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They breezed past the Lions to the tune of 59-27. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matches by 21 points or more this season.

Raymond Central's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-4. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.8 points over those games. As for Fort Calhoun, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 15-7.

Fort Calhoun suffered a grim 61-35 defeat to Raymond Central when the teams last played two weeks ago. Can Fort Calhoun avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
