Baseball Game Preview: Okemos Chiefs vs. DeWitt Panthers

The Okemos Chiefs will square off against the DeWitt Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

DeWitt will be up against a hot Okemos team: the squad just extended their winning streak to four. The Chiefs came out on top against Holt by a score of 10-7 on Thursday. Ten seems to be a good number for the Chiefs as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask DeWitt). They were the clear victors by a 17-2 margin over Everett on Thursday. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Will Garza made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Garza was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Liam Stone was excellent, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and two RBI. Donovan Hillard was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one double.

DeWitt's victory bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Okemos, their win bumped their record up to 9-2-1.

Everything went Okemos' way against DeWitt when the teams last played back in April of 2025, as Okemos made off with a 14-4 victory. Do the Chiefs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
