Baseball Recap: Oswego Comes Up Short

Oswego had lost 12 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 0-11 to make it 13. They lost 16-1 to the Northeast Vikings. The Indians were not able to make up for their loss to the Vikings from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

As for Northeast, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-7. That looming 16-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for them yet this season.

For Northeast's part, Spencer Wade was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Wade has posted since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. He has become a key player for Northeast: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-7 otherwise.

In other batting news, Northeast got a massive performance out of Jayden Wetzel, who went 2-for-3 with two triples, three runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs Wetzel has posted since back in March. Jordan Simon also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Northeast beat Oswego by a score of 16-1 later that day.
