Preview: Mineral Ridge Rams vs. Leetonia Bears
Mineral Ridge is on a four-game streak of home losses (dating back to last season), Leetonia a 16-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change. The Mineral Ridge Rams will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Leetonia Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mineral Ridge will be strutting in after a win while Leetonia will be coming in after a loss.
Mineral Ridge scored the most points they've had all season to find success last Wednesday. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 76-40 win over Lordstown. With that win, Mineral Ridge brought their scoring average up to 51.8 points per game.
Mineral Ridge found their leader in underclassman Chase Moore, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 12 rebounds. Jonathan Rozzi was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Meanwhile, Leetonia was the victim of a tough 60-39 loss at the hands of Waterloo on Wednesday.
Mineral Ridge's win bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Leetonia, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.
Mineral Ridge came up short against Leetonia in their previous matchup back in January of 2017, falling 60-56. Thankfully for Mineral Ridge, Isaac Stecker (who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and six blocks) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
