Basketball Recap: Lutheran's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

Lutheran came into Friday's game having lost 11 straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 60-50 victory over the Hope Christian Academy Hawks on Friday. The Warriors have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Hawks, too.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lutheran to victory, but perhaps none more so than Simon Hoeft, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten boards. Another player making a difference was Nathan Yakobe, who went 7 for 17 on his way to 15 points and three steals.

Lutheran was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Lutheran's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-10. As for Hope Christian Academy, they are on a 19-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lutheran will take on Universal Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hope Christian Academy, they will square off against Frankel Jewish Academy of Metro Detroit at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
