Having struggled with five defeats in a row dating back to last season, Old Plank Christian Academy turned things around against ED White on Thursday. They never let the Commanders get on the board and left with a 21-0 win. Considering the Defenders' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
The result came thanks to Carly Mobley's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up eight Ks. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single walk, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in March of 2024.
At the plate, Laiton Pechin was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, eight RBI, and two stolen bases. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Rodriguez, who scored two runs and stole Five bases. while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Harvest Community got the win against Cedar Creek Christian on Monday by a conclusive 22-0. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by ten runs or more this season.
Naomi Winburn made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two hits in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.
In other batting news, Meredith Harmer was a standout: she went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one triple. That triple marked the first that she hit this season. Another player making a difference was Marley Elliott, who scored three runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Harvest Community always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .857. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cedar Creek Christian only posted an OBP of .182.
Old Plank Christian Academy's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Harvest Community, their win bumped their record up to 8-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Old Plank Christian Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Harvest Community struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
