Basketball Recap: Karlissia Young's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Pahokee over Leonard

After flying high against Clewiston on Monday, Pahokee came back down to earth. The Blue Devils took a 48-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Leonard Lancers on Wednesday. The Blue Devils were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lancers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.

Pahokee's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Karlissia Young, who posted 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of A'Laijah Deila, who earned nine points.

Leonard was led to victory by Lauren Brooks and Bradline Eriscar. Brooks put up 22 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals, while Eriscar dropped a double-double with 16 points and 11 boards. That makes it four consecutive games in which Brooks has scored at least a third of the Lancers' points. Another player making a difference was Dahana Joseph, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 12 boards.

Pahokee now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Leonard, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-1.

Pahokee has already played their next game, a 55-11 defeat against Moore Haven on the 11th. As for Leonard, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Jupiter Christian at 5:30 p.m. on January 7, 2026.
