Baseball Recap: Georgetown G-Men vs. Clermont Northeastern Rockets
Georgetown extended their losing streak to seven on Monday, dropping their season record down to 1-7 in the process. They came up short against the Clermont Northeastern Rockets, falling 13-7. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rockets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-1 on April 9th.
Bradley Ison was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. Gavin Fender also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
As for Clermont Northeastern, their record is now 7-5. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
On Clermont Northeastern's side, Colton Sexton was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). Sexton was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, Brady Schmidt was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Clermont Northeastern is undefeated when Schmidt posts two or more runs, but 4-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Hunter Kelley, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Georgetown is set to challenge their familiar foe Bethel-Tate at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Clermont Northeastern will square off against rival Williamsburg at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
