Basketball Game Preview: Greenhill Hornets vs. Cistercian Hawks

After both having extra time off, the Greenhill Hornets and the Cistercian Hawks will shake off the cobwebs and take on one another at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Greenhill's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

Greenhill is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Kingdom Collegiate Academy 111-64 last Saturday. The Hornets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matchups by 24 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Cistercian came up short against BigTyme Prep Academy last Saturday and fell 43-31. While losing is never fun, the Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 684th, while the Bears are ranked 245th).

Greenhill pushed their record up to 19-2 with the win, which was their 22nd straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 79.0 points per game. As for Cistercian, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7.

Greenhill strolled past Cistercian in their previous matchup back in January of 2024 by a score of 62-46. Will Greenhill repeat their success, or does Cistercian have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
