Basketball Recap: Howells-Dodge Falls Despite Big Games from Jordyn Ratzlaff and Kenadie Throener

Howells-Dodge suffered their biggest loss since February 9, 2024 on Thursday. They came up short against the Pender Pendragons, falling 69-44. While losing is never fun, the Jaguars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 60th, while the Pendragons are ranked eighth).

Howells-Dodge's loss came despite strong showings from Kenadie Throener and Jordyn Ratzlaff. Throener went 5-for-11 en route to 18 points, while Ratzlaff posted ten points. That's the most points Throener has posted since back in January of 2024.

Maya Dolliver continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Pender, going 6-for-8 from beyond the arc to rack up 25 points in addition to seven boards and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Hadley Walsh, who went 7-for-10 on her way to 16 points and five rebounds.

Howells-Dodge's defeat dropped their record down to 16-9. As for Pender, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 24-2.

As of now, neither Howells-Dodge nor Pender have any future games scheduled.
