Football Recap: Verdugo Hills Comes Up Short

If Verdugo Hills was feeling good fresh off their 43-0 takedown of Fulton last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Dons lost 42-21 to the Arleta Mustangs on Friday. The Dons have struggled against the Mustangs recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Verdugo Hills still got an impressive performance from Aiden Mejia, who picked up 111 receiving yards and two TDs, and also rushed for 101 yards and one score on only seven carries.

Jose Rosas produced another solid performance rushing for 182 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 9.6 yards per carry for Arleta. Those four rushing touchdowns gave Rosas a new career-high. Jesse Rios also deserves a shout-out for his two TDs.

Verdugo Hills' defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Arleta, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-3.

Verdugo Hills wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 20-14 loss against Poly on the 23rd. As for Arleta, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 47-0 victory against Fulton on the 23rd.
