Baseball Recap: Tuesday's Loss Ends Bauxite's Winning Streak

After flying high against Central last Monday, Bauxite came back down to earth. The Bauxite Miners fell 15-12 to the Carlisle Bison on Tuesday. The Miners were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bison apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Drake Pettus was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Heidelberg, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Even though they lost, Bauxite was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .394 or higher in four consecutive contests.

The defeat snapped Bauxite's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-2 record. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 11.3 runs. As for Carlisle, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.

Looking ahead, Bauxite will head out on the road to square off against Mayflower at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bauxite is facing Mayflower at the right time seeing as Mayflower is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Carlisle, they will host Episcopal at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
