Preview: Oakfield-Alabama/Elba Aggies vs. York/Pavilion
Oakfield-Alabama/Elba is 5-0 against York/Pavilion since April of 2021, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Oakfield-Alabama/Elba Aggies will head out on the road to face off against the York/Pavilion at 7:00 p.m. Oakfield-Alabama/Elba will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last.
Last Saturday, Oakfield-Alabama/Elba got themselves on the board against Geneseo/Mount Morris, but Geneseo/Mount Morris never followed suit. They breezed by the at home to the tune of 31-0. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Oakfield-Alabama/Elba's 12-point performance the contest before.
Austin Pangrazio went supernova for Oakfield-Alabama/Elba, rushing for 134 yards and four touchdowns. Avery Watterson also helped out as he racked up 128 rushing yards.
Meanwhile, York/Pavilion had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four two Thursdays ago. They took their game against Notre Dame 25-18.
York/Pavilion found their leader in underclassman Parker Bonefede, who threw for 187 yards and two touchdowns while completing 76.5% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. York/Pavilion also got a significant boost from Carl Szczech, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 91 yards.
York/Pavilion's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Leading the way was Joe Munoz and his two sacks.
Their wins bumped Oakfield-Alabama/Elba to 4-3 and York/Pavilion to 5-1.
Everything came up roses for Oakfield-Alabama/Elba against York/Pavilion when the teams last played back in September as the team secured a 41-6 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Oakfield-Alabama/Elba since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
