Basketball Recap: Aurora Hilton Key Part of a Team Effort in Bulldogs Win

Durand's game on Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They took down the Hiawatha Hawks 36-18. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 46-18 last Wednesday.

Durand's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aurora Hilton led the charge by putting up six points and ten rebounds. Hilton is becoming a predictor of Durand's success: when she posts at least ten boards the team is 4-2 (and 2-6 when she doesn't). Olivia Johnson was another key player, posting nine points and three steals.

Durand smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Durand's win bumped their record up to 6-8. As for Hiawatha, they are on an 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-12.

Durand is taking a road trip to square off against River Ridge/Scales Mound at 6:00 p.m. on January 6, 2025. As for Hiawatha, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Harvard at 5:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
