Football Recap: Matthew Shields' Menacing Defense Leads Butler over Chambers + How To Watch

Butler lost to Chambers back in November of 2019, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Bulldogs came out on top against the Cougars by a score of 23-12. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Bulldogs as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

DeMaurion Thomas-Wright continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 121 yards on only 15 carries.

Butler didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Matthew Shields, Ali Aman, and Gabe Wilson picked up one apiece. Shields is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least eight every time he's taken the field this season. Another thorn in Chambers' side was Amari Sifford, who made 15 total tackles and defended one pass.

The victory got Butler back to even at 3-3. As for Chambers, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-3.

Butler and Chambers will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matchups. The next time the Bulldogs see the field they'll take on North Mecklenburg at 7:00 p.m. on October 10. As for Chambers, their break will end when they face Independence at 7:00 p.m. on October 10.
