Baseball Recap: Pawnee Drops Season-High Score on Hominy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pawnee). They were the clear victors by a 13-7 margin over the Hominy Bucks on Monday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Black Bears considering their two-run performance the contest before.

Kash Demauro was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over 5.2 innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on William DeShields, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cale McPeek, who scored two runs while going 2-for-5.

Pawnee's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-15. As for Hominy, their defeat was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-13.

Pawnee and Hominy could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Oklahoma Rankings. The Black Bears (ranked 362nd) will meet Ripley (ranked 34th) at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Hominy will take on Barnsdall at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (279 vs. 124).
