Basketball Recap: Canon City Falls to Rampart in First Game of Season

Canon City unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a blow against the Rampart Rams on Tuesday, falling 78-41. The Tigers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-19.

Despite the loss, Canon City had strong showings from Eric Chavez, who posted four points, and Noah Mullin-Betts, who scored five points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Rampart to victory, but perhaps none more so than Wyatt Kirch, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 13 boards. Those 13 rebounds gave Kirch a new career-high. Theodore Wilson was another key player, going 5-for-9 en route to 15 points and seven assists.

Canon City has already played their next game, a 62-38 defeat against Silver Creek on the 4th. As for Rampart, they will be playing at home against Palmer Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
