Softball Recap: Patriot Extends Winning Streak to Five

Ten must be Patriot's lucky number: they beat Westfield with that score not once but twice on Monday. The Pioneers beat the Bulldogs by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 10-9. Winning may never get old, but the Pioneers sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

The team relied heavily on Isa Ellis, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiran Kapur, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two runs.

Patriot's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-4. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Westfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5.

Coming up, Patriot will welcome Freedom at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Pioneers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 9.2 runs per game this season. Westfield will be paying especially close attention to Patriot's match: after Patriot faces off against Osbourn, they'll take on Westfield again at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
