The Governor's Academy Governors won the last time they faced the Thayer Academy Tigers, and things went their way on Saturday too. Governor's Academy strolled past Thayer Academy with points to spare, taking the game 38-21. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Governor's Academy.
When it comes to explaining why Thayer Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Nate Austin-Johnstone. Despite the final result, he picked up 134 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground. Austin-Johnstone's longest reception was for an incredible 70 yards.
Governor's Academy's win bumped their record up to 3-3. As for Thayer Academy, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Governor's Academy will square off against Lawrence Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Lawrence Academy is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. As for Thayer Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Groton School at 2:45 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Massachusetts (Groton School is ranked 48th, while Thayer Academy is ranked 40th).
