Baseball Game Preview: Clawson Trojans vs. Fitzgerald Spartans

For the second straight game, Clawson will face off against Fitzgerald. The Trojans will host the Spartans at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Clawson is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.

Clawson's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Fitzgerald as they made off with a 20-0 victory. The Trojans have beaten the Spartans the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Spartans has come to flipping the script.

Elliott Groves and Logan Fulks were major factors while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Groves pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Fulks tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2025. At bat, Groves went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs, while Fulks went a perfect 2-for-2 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI. That home run marked the first that Groves has launched this season.

In other batting news, Clawson let Trent Stephan and Jackson Hein run wild. Stephan went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double, while Hein went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those two hits gave Hein a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Joey Campana, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Fitzgerald is on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-13. As for Clawson, their win bumped their record up to 14-7-1.
