Softball Recap: Port Jervis Sets Scoring Season-High Against Monticello

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Port Jervis). They blew past the Monticello Panthers 23-0 on Monday. Considering the Raiders have won four matchups by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Abbey Montalvo made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. Montalvo was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.

In other batting news, Port Jervis got a massive performance out of Alabama Stankewicz, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Payton Thompson, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Port Jervis always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .744. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Port Jervis now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Monticello, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-6.

Looking ahead, Port Jervis will challenge Sullivan West at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive. As for Monticello, they will square off against Cornwall Central at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
