Baseball Game Preview: Lyons Lions vs. Plainfield North Tigers

The Lyons Lions will face off against the Plainfield North Tigers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Lyons will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Lyons' pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Oak Park-River Forest 7-0. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won five games by seven runs or more so far this season.

The result came thanks to Tucker King's shutout, as he gave up just a hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Lyons let Lon Roberts and Blake Ragsdale run wild. Roberts went 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run, while Ragsdale went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple marked the first that Roberts hit this season. Justin Heydorn was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Plainfield North sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 victory over Gatewood on Wednesday.

Lyons' win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Plainfield North, their win bumped their record up to 5-2.
