Five-star junior scores seven in overtime as USC commit Jazzy Davidson pours in 35 for Cavaliers in losing effort.

MESA, Ariz. — A MaxPreps Top 25 showdown between No. 2 Archbishop Mitty (San Jose, Calif.) and No. 17 Clackamas (Ore.) on Thursday was the highlight so far of the Nike Tournament of Champions.

California bested Oregon in the Vincent Cannizzaro Division quarterfinal matchup as five-star junior McKenna Woliczko dropped a career-high 38 points to lead Mitty to an 83-77 overtime win over Clackamas. She scored seven of the Monarchs' nine points in the extra period and added 17 rebounds for the game.

Mitty is looking to repeat as Nike TOC champions after winning last year's title 73-72 over Long Island Lutheran.

The Cavaliers were led by USC commit Jazzy Davidson, who had 35 points despite sitting much of the second quarter with three fouls.

Woliczko made one of two free throws to give Archbishop Mitty a 74-72 lead. But Davidson sent the game to overtime sinking two free throws with 9.1 seconds left as the Monarchs fouled her trying to avoid giving up a potential game-winning 3-point shot.

In the extra frame, Woliczko missed two easy low post buckets before converting an and-one for a 77-74 lead. Davidson cut the lead to one before the Monarchs' post scored on back-to-back trips down the court and an 81-76 lead with 90 seconds remaining. Tiera McCarthy hit a jumper with 31 seconds left to help Mitty stretch its lead and advance to Friday's semifinal against No. 13 Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.), a 53-49 winner over No. 7 Bishop McNamara (Forestville, Md.).

There are three California teams in the Cannizzaro semifinals Friday with No. 1 Ontario Christian (Ontario, Calif.) joining Mitty and Mater Dei while Bullis (Potomac, Md.) represents the East Coast. Archbishop Mitty battles Mater Dei while Ontario Christian takes on Bullis.

Ontario Christian handled a Sienna Betts-led No. 20 Grandview (Aurora, Colo.) team 88-70 while Bullis (Potomac, Md.) downed No. 9 Purcell Marian (Cincinnati, Ohio) 59-48 in a foul-filled contest that saw the Bulldogs erase a 44-34 deficit in the fourth quarter.
