Softball Recap: Mt. Mansfield Comes Up Short

Mt. Mansfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 26th straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 6-2 to the Missisquoi Valley Thunderbirds. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Cassidy Thompson and Amelia Pavese stepped up to the plate in a big way. Thompson got on base in both of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run, while Pavese went 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was Pavese's first of the season. Ellie Campbell was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases.

Mt. Mansfield's loss dropped their record down to 0-11. As for Missisquoi Valley, their win bumped their record up to 2-3.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Mt. Mansfield is set to face off against their familiar foe St. Johnsbury Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Missisquoi Valley will challenge rival Essex at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
