Basketball Recap: Bountiful Snaps 11-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Bountiful dropped to 5-2 on Friday, ending the team's 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They took a 52-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Woods Cross Wildcats. The contest marked the Redhawks' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

As for Woods Cross, they pushed their record up to 5-0 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The game was the first time they have beaten Bountiful on their court since February 8, 2023.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Woods Cross to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nate Smith-mecham, who went 5-for-8 on his way to 13 points and three blocks. Smith-mecham continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Elliot Bendinger, who almost dropped a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Bountiful will square off against rival Skyline at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Lincoln Smith and Thomas Sunderland. Meanwhile, Woods Cross is set to take on their familiar foe Alta at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
