Softball Recap: Chugiak Wins Going Away Against Colony

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Chugiak walked away with it. Everything went their way against the Colony Knights on Saturday as they made off with a 16-4 win. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won 18 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Brooklyn McCormick was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabel Sjostrand, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.

Chugiak always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .649. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .512 or higher in three consecutive games.

Chugiak is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That lines up perfectly with their 24-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Colony, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 34-10-1.

Chugiak has already played their next match (against South Anchorage), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Colony does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
