Volleyball Game Preview: Upper Arlington Golden Bears vs. Beavercreek Beavers

The Upper Arlington Golden Bears will square off against the Beavercreek Beavers at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday. Upper Arlington will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Upper Arlington had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt Olentangy Orange on Thursday. The Golden Bears blew past the Pioneers 3-0.

The win didn't come easy: Olentangy Orange scored at least 18 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-18, 25-21.

Meanwhile, Beavercreek didn't have quite enough to beat Fairmont on Thursday and fell 3-2. The Beavers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Beavercreek started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 20-25, 25-22, 26-24, 15-12.

Upper Arlington will have to keep a close watch on Harrison Barnett and Sebastian Pacheco, a pair of players who had a big impact on Beavercreek's prior game. Barnett had 25 assists and 11 digs, while Pacheco had 19 digs and four assists. With that strong performance, Barnett is now averaging an impressive 12.3 assists per game. Tyler Jones also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

Upper Arlington's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Beavercreek, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-5.

Upper Arlington beat Beavercreek 3-1 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Do the Golden Bears have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Beavers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
