Football Recap: Hubbard Eagles vs. South Range Raiders
Despite a strong season so far, Hubbard has seen their luck take a bit of a downturn recently. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 32-31 heartbreaker at the hands of the South Range Raiders. The Eagles lost against the Raiders in their previous head to head back in October of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 38-0 score last time.
Despite the loss, Hubbard still got an impressive performance from Michael Hazimihalis, who rushed for 126 yards and a pair of scores on only 12 carries, and also picked up 66 receiving yards and one TD. Hazimihalis got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 65 yards. Braydon Songer was another key player, rushing for 57 yards and one touchdown.
Hubbard suffered their first road defeat, dropping their record down to 7-3. As for South Range, their victory bumped their record up to 6-4.
The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Hubbard will head out on the road to challenge Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for South Range, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Berkshire at 7:00 p.m. The Raiders will need to watch out since the Badgers have now posted at least 31 points in their last three matchups.
