Baseball Recap: KIPP King's Win on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only KIPP King walked away with it. They came out on top against the Fremont Tigers by a score of 11-7 on Wednesday. The victory was nothing new for the Lions as they're now sitting on six straight.

Andy Parga was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Parga was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of KIPP King's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 2-4 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Xavier Gardley, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Marco Corona, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

KIPP King always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .541 or higher in five consecutive games.

KIPP King pushed their record up to 11-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Fremont, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.
