Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ponte Vedra). They blew past the Stanton Blue Devils, posting a 71-44 victory. Given the Sharks' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 181st, while the Blue Devils are ranked 444th), the result on Thursday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Ponte Vedra got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Arden Doherty out in front who went 9 of 17 en route to 20 points and five steals. Doherty continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jocelyn Hoffmann, who posted 17 points along with seven boards and six assists.

Ponte Vedra smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Ponte Vedra now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Stanton, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.

Ponte Vedra won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Ridgeview at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Ridgeview will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Ponte Vedra surely won't give up without a fight. As for Stanton, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Eagle's View at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
