Payton Lapping leads Desert Ridge to victory over Corona del Sol

Even though the Desert Ridge Jaguars have not done well against the Corona del Sol Aztecs recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Desert Ridge skirted past Corona del Sol 71-69. The victory was all the more spectacular given Desert Ridge's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 140th, while Corona del Sol is ranked 43rd).

Payton Lapping continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 24 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Angelo Jones, who scored ten points along with three steals.

Desert Ridge's victory bumped their record up to 9-16. As for Corona del Sol, their loss dropped their record down to 14-11.

Desert Ridge will head out on the road to square off against Gila Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Corona del Sol does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
