LAFAYETTE, Ind. - After two lead changes,
Lafayette Central Catholic (Lafayette, Ind.) took the lead for the win when
Ben Metzinger ran for a touchdown with less than a minute remaining in the fifth quarter and held on to upset
West Lafayette (Ind.) 27-26 on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run, the Red Devils went into halftime with a 14-7 lead. The Knights scored the winning points with a Metzinger touchdown run that came in the fifth quarter.
West Lafayette missed two extra point attempts in the loss.
The defeat comes as a step back for West Lafayette, which notched a 47-16 victory over Seeger in its previous outing.
Lafayette Central Catholic (8-1) will play a playoff game against North Putnam next week, while West Lafayette (8-1) will take on Delta also in a playoff game.
