Game recap: Hoover High School Football Team defeats Minor

HOOVER, Ala. - Hoover (Ala.) and Minor (Adamsville, Ala.) both tightened up defensively, but Hoover managed to score enough to pull out the 14-0 victory.

The Buccaneers scored on a passing touchdown and a rushing touchdown to secure the victory.

Hoover was up 7-0 at the half after taking the lead on a touchdown run in the first quarter.

HHS expanded its lead to 14 points entering the fourth quarter. The Buccaneers' lone score in the quarter came on a passing touchdown.

With the win Hoover extended its winning streak to nine games. HHS defeated the Patriots 31-14 last week.



Led by Marlon Humphrey, the Buccaneers went into the matchup giving up only 8.3 points per game. The Tigers' zero points were well below their season average of 19.7 per game.

In a 6A Region 5 game next week Hoover (9-0) takes on Tuscaloosa County, and Minor (2-6) will go up against Hillcrest also in a 6A Region 5 game.
