Softball Recap: Louisa County Comes Up Short

Louisa County fell victim to Godwin and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They came up short against the Eagles, falling 7-0. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Lions were not able to get on the board.

Louisa County saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alyssa Hopkins, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Louisa County's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Godwin, they pushed their record up to 5-0 with the victory, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season.

When Louisa County and Godwin next hit the field, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. The Lions will square off against Monticello and their five-game winning streak at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Godwin will try to stop Hickory's six-game winning streak when they meet at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Eagles 0.8, the Hawks 0.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.
