Basketball Recap: Joel Bulis Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Chattanooga School for the Liberal Arts

Chattanooga Prep won the last time they faced Chattanooga School for the Liberal Arts and things went their way on Monday too. The Chattanooga Prep Sentinels came out on top against the Chattanooga School for the Liberal Arts Eagles by a score of 74-61. Given the Sentinels' advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 45th, while the Eagles are ranked 311th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Chattanooga Prep got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Joel Bulis out in front who went 11 for 15 to rack up 25 points along with eight boards and three steals. Those 25 points gave Bulis a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Jones, who went 5 of 11 en route to 16 points in addition to seven assists and four steals.

Despite the defeat, Chattanooga School for the Liberal Arts saw an underclassman step up: freshman Landon Caldwell posted 31 points. Caldwell's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 21 points. Another player making a difference was Mark Hetrick, who put up eight points.

Chattanooga Prep pushed their record up to 20-8 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.0 points over those games. As for Chattanooga School for the Liberal Arts, their loss dropped their record down to 12-14.

Chattanooga Prep wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 78-38 win against Sale Creek on the 11th. As for Chattanooga School for the Liberal Arts, they have also already played their next match, a 78-34 victory against Copper Basin on the 11th.
