Softball Game Preview: Washington Township Senators vs. Kouts Mustangs & Fillies

The Washington Township Senators are taking a road trip to square off against the Kouts Mustangs & Fillies at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Washington Township will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Friday, then bounced right back against Hammond Central on Tuesday. The Senators blew past the Wolves 17-4. The result was nothing new for the Senators, who have now won four contests by 13 runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Kouts never let their opponents score on Thursday. They put the hurt on South Newton with a sharp 15-0 win. The Mustangs & Fillies haven't had any issues with the Rebels recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Bella Tikalsky was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Kayla Florence was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs and four RBI.

Kouts always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .621. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Washington Township pushed their record up to 6-7 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Kouts, the win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 6-7.

Washington Township might still be hurting after the 17-0 loss they got from Kouts in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Senators avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
