Basketball Recap: Bethesda-Chevy Chase Barons vs. Paint Branch Panthers

The Bethesda-Chevy Chase Barons won the last time they faced the Paint Branch Panthers, and things went their way on Monday too. Bethesda-Chevy Chase strolled past the Panthers with points to spare, taking the game 48-33. Given Bethesda-Chevy Chase's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 38th, while the Panthers are ranked 160th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bethesda-Chevy Chase to victory, but perhaps none more so than Frances Doyle, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds. Doyle has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Anna Tercyak, who scored nine points along with six rebounds.

Bethesda-Chevy Chase's win was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.3 points per game. As for Paint Branch, their loss dropped their record down to 7-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bethesda-Chevy Chase won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Blazers at 7:15 p.m. on January 30th. As for Paint Branch, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Blue Devils on Friday. Springbrook is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
