Baseball Recap: Monte Vista Christian Snaps Seven-Game Streak of Wins at Home

After flying high against Rancho San Juan last Thursday, Monte Vista Christian came back down to earth. The Mustangs fell just short of the Everett Alvarez Eagles by a score of 6-4 on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Mustangs have suffered since April 2nd.

Jackson Haddad was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over 4.2 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Evan Vessey was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Cortez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double.

Monte Vista Christian's defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-5. As for Everett Alvarez, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-12.

Everett Alvarez wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 7-6 win against San Lorenzo Valley on the 8th. Hopefully Monte Vista Christian paid attention to the Eagles' game: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
